Rachel Atherton drops in to Altius Hale for a tune up

Our Director Doug Jones has worked with Rachel for ten years now and together they have been through some highs and lows on the World Cup circuit with Rach winning the World Championship five times.

In 2009 Rachel suffered a very bad shoulder injury which is when she first met Doug who was working at Sale Sharks at the time and squeezing her in around his day job at the club. Since then they have worked together through every injury that she has had and her brother Gee with Rach travelling down to London to see Doug when he was the Head physio at London Wasps.

Altius has provided the Athertons (See News Blog: trek Factory Racing) with a physio (Fiona Lundie) for the past two seasons and Rach and Gee visit Altius Hale or MIHP for Physiotherapy, hyrdotherapy and massage in and out of season when needed.

The clip gives a snapshot of the type of work Doug will do with Rach for an hour and for this visit to Altius Hale Doug was focused on getting Rach to be taller on her bike at the bottom of her pedal stroke as in training for the past few weeks she has been feeling sore in her back and felt unstable on her saddle when she puts the power down through her right leg.

If you are reading this or watching the film and think you may benefit from a session with us please do get in contact we would be happy to help you get stronger on the bike….the mornings are getting warmer and the evenings are a little lighter so there is no time like the present!
