Physiotherapy
Some of the biggest brands in the world trust us to look after the care of their athletes and staff so why wouldn’t you? We treat over 1500 people a month making us one of the largest providers of physiotherapy across our six clinics across greater Manchester. We were established in 2016 and have a database of over ten thousand patients and over 50 Google reviews with 5 stars.
More and more patients are booking in to see us now before they become injured. Thirty percent of our weekly list of patients are people who have seen us before with an injury and now will come five or six times a year for maintenance treatments………like you would service your car!
Altius physiotherapists are all trained in manual therapy and believe in the importance of ‘hands-on’ treatment and face-to-face care. We do offer virtual appointments to deliver exercise rehab progressions either at home or whilst you and the therapist are based in the gym.
Your initial physiotherapy appointment will involve a consultation where our physiotherapists will discuss your problem, then carry out a full musculoskeletal assessment. This assessment enables our physiotherapists to create an individualised treatment plan with you to help you achieve your goals.
Physiotherapy can help with a number of issues:
- – Sports injuries
- – Strains and sprains
- – Tendon injury
- – Pre and Post surgery rehabilitation
- – Back and neck pain
- – Shoulder pain
- – Work related injuries
- – Arthritis
- – Pre & post-natal care
- – Women’s health/Incontinence problems/Pelvic pain
- – Concussion
Treatment can include mobilisation and manipulation of joints, manual therapy, taping, dry needling and acupuncture, exercise prescription, rehabilitation, biomechanical assessment, and education on how you can best manage your condition. For more information about our treatments click on the links under Services.
Our clinics have private treatment rooms and their own rehab gym spaces. Our physiotherapists work closely with other team members who may be involved with your care to give you the best outcome. Do ask our reception team if you have a specific issue and they can refer you to the best clinician for your needs. We can also offer home visit services for patients unable to attend clinic due to mobility issues.

We have been told before that we come across as too focused on elite sport and managing patients with sports injuries although over seventy percent of our patients are aged over forty and struggle with perhaps an old injury or the stresses and strains of a normal life. We have definitely learnt a lot of lessons from being involved in sport which we can apply in clinic. Most patients we see report in clinic due to a lack of activity and much of their pain is to do with the effects of sitting at their desk and working at their computer. Understanding why sitting for long periods is core to what we do and we have a well established system now that will help you undo the harmful effects of sitting and get you back to your best.
We get results with our patients through educating them about all the factors that are acting on each other that cause their problem. Very rarely now will we see people who rush to see us with a one-off injury, more our clients are booking in to improve the way they feel, get rid of any niggles and maintain their health preventing them from getting any pain.
We have well established relationships with the best surgeons and hospitals in greater Manchester. Doug Jones established the Hip and Groin, multi-disciplinary-team over ten years ago and it is the only clinic of its kind in the country. This close working relationship means that if you need a consultant opinion before your start or during your time with us we can refer directly into the hospital and request imaging rather than having to wait and being referred by your GP.
We are very fortunate to have access to the some of the best facilities greater Manchester has to offer. We have invested heavily in the data capturing services to make sure you are getting the best care that isn’t just based on therapist opinion but supported by science and data. We are passionate about providing you with objective goals through the data that we capture in clinic. In your initial assessment your strength and mobility will be measured and this information will be used to set your goals. Your numbers will be tested and retested during your care to ensure you are on-track and the program is working.
If your still unsure that physiotherapy is right for you then why not arrange a 15 minute video call appointment. Here you can discuss the problem you have and perhaps we can just give you advice or demonstrate exercises on a video call. If you are too injured to get into clinic then we are happy to travel to see you and can set up a fold up bed in your home or workplace.
