Resting Heart Rate Test
You will need:
– A stopwatch or clock
We measure heart rate manually by checking our pulse. The easiest place to find your pulse is at the wrist. To find a resting heart rate you need to be resting for at least 5 minutes before taking your pulse.
1. Hold out one of your hands with the palm facing up.
2. Use the ring and middle finger of the other hand, and place the pads of these fingers at the base of the thumb on the inside of your wrist.
3. Press lightly here to feel your pulse. If you struggle to feel it, try pressing slightly harder or adjusting your fingers until you do.
4. Count the number of beats you feel here in 30 seconds, then times this by 2 to find your beats per minute (bpm).
