Long COVID is described as symptoms that continue or develop 12 weeks after an acute COVID-19 infection and which cannot be explained by an alternative diagnosis. It is estimated that 65.2% of people experience symptoms for more than 180 days post-infection with symptom duration varying from 2 weeks to over 100 days showing, how COVID-19 can affect individuals differently. Approximately, 1.8 million people living in the UK are/have experienced self-reported long COVID.

 

Symptoms of Long COVID range from extreme tiredness, shortness of breath, chest pain or tightness, problems with memory and concentration (“brain fog”), difficulty sleeping, heart palpitations, dizziness and pins and needles. This is just a short list in comparison to the wide range of symptoms that individuals experience.

 

The Impacts of Long COVID

Long COVID has an impact on a variety of things throughout an individual’s day-to-day life. This can range from not being able to go to work, walk up the stairs, complete personal care, get back to the gym and spend time with family all of which have a negative effect on an individual’s mental and physical health.

 

Often triggers of symptoms can range from stress, exercises, menstruation, disturbance in sleep and domestic chores.

The class is a 6-week rehabilitation programme which includes 6 forms of breathlessness management techniques, a variety of ways to manage fatigue exercise testing and one of the main focuses of the programme is an individualised exercise programme built to increase your exercise tolerance with all the preceding techniques involved.

1:5 at Thrive £90

10% discount if you book another 6-week block

 

Due to the size of the studios. The Bury clinic will be on a 1:2 ratio whereas the programme at Thrive gym Rawtenstall will be on a 1:5.
